Full-width rear opening for a house extension
The entire back wall of a semi carried on one steel beam, opening the house into a new rear extension.

Opening up the whole back of a house is as structural as domestic work gets. We propped the brickwork above, formed the opening, and seated a single steel beam that now carries the full width of the rear — packed tight, bearing on padstones, and left ready for the extension to go on. Lifted into position with a genie lift, so no crane was needed on a tight site.
What the job involved
- Full-width structural opening formed across the rear wall
- Single steel beam designed by the engineer and installed on padstones
- Temporary propping and needling throughout — the house supported at every stage
- Cavity tray and bearing detail where the extension meets the house
Services used: knock-throughs & new openings, steel beam & rsj installation, load-bearing wall removal.
Whole-house structural package in a period property
Several steel beams through one renovation, including twin steels tucked beneath an ornate period ceiling — cornice untouched.

A period renovation often needs more than one beam, and the challenge is doing it without losing the character of the house. We installed a full structural package — several steels through the property — including twin beams tucked up beneath an ornate ceiling so the cornice and plasterwork were left completely undisturbed.
What the job involved
- Multiple steel beams installed across a full renovation
- Twin steels fitted tight beneath an original period ceiling
- Bolted end-plate connections where one beam carries another
- Original features protected and left intact throughout
Services used: small structural alterations, steel beam & rsj installation.
Chimney breast removal with the stack carried on steel
Chimney breast removed to reclaim floor space, with the remaining stack above picked up on a new steel beam.

Where a chimney breast comes out but the stack above stays, that masonry has to be properly carried. We designed and installed the steel support, took out the breast, and packed the steel tight to the remaining chimney — reclaiming the floor space without touching the stack above the ceiling.
What the job involved
- Chimney breast removed and the stack above supported on new steel
- Engineer's calculations for the remaining masonry
- Steel beam installed, packed and pinned tight to the stack
- Opening made good ready for decoration
Services used: chimney breast removal, steel beam & rsj installation.
New-build three-bay steel storage units
New-build steel-framed storage units on a brick plinth, with galvanised roller shutters and personnel doors, built to handover.

A full steel-framed build from the ground up: foundations and brick plinth, galvanised frame, cladding, and three bays of galvanised roller shutters with personnel doors. Delivered as a finished, secure building ready for handover — not a kit and a good-luck note.
What the job involved
- Groundworks and brick plinth
- Galvanised steel frame supplied and erected
- Box-profile cladding and roof sheeting
- Three bays of roller shutter doors plus steel personnel doors
Services used: steel-framed units & buildings.
Warehouse extension clad to match the existing unit
A steel-framed warehouse extension on new concrete pad foundations, clad in green box profile to blend into the existing building.

Extending an existing commercial unit means tying new steel into an existing structure and matching the look. We poured the pad foundations, put up the galvanised frame, and clad it in green box profile to match — so the extension reads as part of the original building, not a bolt-on.
What the job involved
- Concrete pad foundations set out and poured
- Galvanised steel frame erected and tied to the existing building
- Green box-profile cladding matched to the existing unit
- Guttering, flashings and weathering details
Services used: steel-framed units & buildings, steel shelters & canopies.
Secure cycle compound in an office car park
A secure cycle compound inside an office car park: mesh cage, lockable gate and galvanised semi-vertical racks.

Workplace cycle storage has to be secure and space-efficient. We built a mesh cage compound with a lockable gate and fitted galvanised semi-vertical racks, anchored to the car park slab — doubling the bikes that fit in the footprint while keeping everything locked away.
What the job involved
- Mesh cage compound built and anchored to the slab
- Lockable steel gate
- Galvanised semi-vertical bike racks — more bikes in less floor space
- Everything galvanised for a maintenance-free finish
Services used: metal railings & fencing, steel shelters & canopies.
Shopping parade canopy demolition — shops stayed open
Controlled demolition of a shopping parade canopy on temporary steels, with every shop trading throughout and the public kept clear.

Demolition on a live retail parade is as much about the public as the structure. We supported the canopy on temporary steels, stripped and removed it in a controlled sequence from a scissor lift, and kept the area netted, fenced and signed — so every shop beneath stayed open for business throughout.
What the job involved
- Temporary steels designed to support the structure during removal
- Controlled strip-out and demolition from a scissor lift
- Netted, fenced and signed with the public kept clear
- Shops kept trading throughout the works
Services used: demolition & strip-out, structural brickwork & repairs.
