Every shelter starts with the groundwork — pad foundations set out and poured to suit the frame — then a galvanised steel frame, roof sheeting, flashings and guttering. Attached canopies are tied into the existing structure properly, with the connection detail designed rather than guessed.

Worth knowing before you book anyone
Planning permission
Canopies and shelters are structures, so planning can apply — particularly attached canopies over a certain size, sites near boundaries, and domestic settings. Many commercial shelters fall under permitted development; we advise honestly at survey and can point you to the right route.
Wind and snow loads
An open-sided canopy catches wind like a sail. Frames and their foundations need sizing for uplift as well as weight — the reason a proper canopy stands for decades and a cheap one ends up in the neighbour's yard.
Tying into an existing building
An attached canopy loads the existing structure. We check what the host wall or frame can take before fixing to it, and design the connection accordingly.

Do I need planning permission for a steel canopy or shelter?
Sometimes. Small shelters and many commercial canopies fall under permitted development, but size, height, boundaries and domestic settings can trigger a planning application. We advise at survey based on your site.
Do you build car ports?
Yes — free-standing and attached car ports for homes and workplaces, on concrete pads with galvanised frames and sheeted roofs, sized for one vehicle up to a full fleet.
Do smoking shelters have rules about how enclosed they can be?
Yes. To count as outdoor smoking areas under the smoke-free rules, shelters must not be substantially enclosed — in practice at least half the wall area stays open. We build to comply.
How long does a steel canopy take to build?
Typically one to two weeks on site for a straightforward canopy: a few days of groundworks, curing time for the pads, then the frame and sheeting go up in two to four days.
Can you attach a canopy to my existing building?
Yes — lean-to and attached canopies are a regular job. We check the existing structure can take the load and design the connection detail before fabrication.
